As voted for by members of the public, Bristol’s Harbourside secured eighth place in the list of 50 Coolest locations to live in the UK by Naturecan – a ranking unmatched by any other part of the city.
We love the Harbourside, and can’t wait to spend balmy evenings there with a few drinks in the warm summer evenings. But have Naturecan been to Bristol? We’re a bit unsure – they describe it as “a vibrant neighborhood centered around the Bristol Feeder Canal and known for its quayside eateries,” though it’s actually St Philip’s Marsh that contains this canal and St Philip’s Marsh isn’t the harbourside.
In 2005, building work on the formerly derelict Canon’s Marsh began, leading to the creation of Crest Nicholson’s Harbourside development (aka the actual Harbourside Naturecan seem to be on about).
Today, the harbourside is home to a number of businesses, including restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and hotels. There are also a number of attractions in the area, such as the M Shed, the SS Great Britain, Arnolfini and the Matthew Boat Museum. The harbourside is well-connected to the rest of Bristol, with a number of bus and train services running through the area. It is also just a short walk from Bristol Temple Meads railway station and the buzzing area of Wapping Wharf.
